Founded in 1979, SMS has watched the dynamic growth, and participated in the commercial dissemination of material and information, of many emerging new scientific disciplines like Chromatography, Mass Spectroscopy, Cell culture, and Reactive Ion Etching and Deposition. Years of involvement in significant changes in the high-tech arena have created a special appreciation and respect for marketing at the cutting edge of new technological advances. We know technology personally, and the changes it has made in many facets of our lives have been, and continue to be, our horizons.

At one time, the disciplines of Biotechnology, Health Care and Medicine, Scientific Research, Electronics, and Semiconductor Development were very discrete areas with little overlap of instrumentation or approach to sought-after solutions. That world is no more, as better communications and modern information transfer of technology cross the artificial lines of separation, and common procedures, equipment, and knowledge unite the basics of most high tech markets and add to the growth of each.
